Quiet Pages, Day Sixteen: Heroes
Teachers, caregivers, librarians, artists, parents, and anyone who shows up, stands up, and takes care of themselves and others. These are among my heroes. Who are your heroes?
The prompt: Write about your heroes. Who inspires you? Whom do you aspire to be?
The nudge: You may want to list your heroes, write about one of your most esteemed heroes, or recount a time when a hero was there for you. Like in third grade, when Tim Murphy saved me from the bully on the playground at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Mansfield, Ohio. I’ve never forgotten your heroism, Tim.
The goal: Write a few of your most heroic lines. Let them ring out. Who knows, you may be on your way to penning the next heroic ballad, like the Odyssey.
Speaking of the Odyssey, a few years ago, I wrote a poem about a not-so-heroic Odysseus.
