Quiet Pages, Day Seven: Unopened Doors

Welcome to Quiet Pages. Though technically it’s day seven, you can jump into Quiet Pages any time. Missed a day or two? Just getting started? Making up your own prompts. That’s great! There are no rules, except to write.

Day Seven

Have you ever wondered, “What’s behind door number two?” Life is a series of doors — opened and unopened. Gwyneth Paltrow even starred in a movie about it, though technically, that was called “Sliding Doors.”

Today’s prompt: Write about what’s behind that unopened door. For example, what would have happened if I had taken that news editor’s job in the British Virgin Islands (based on a true story)?

The nudge: Your unopened door can be real or imagined. It could be a door into an alternate future for you, or a door into a whole other universe. You might also want to write about the reasons you didn’t open that door or how you decided to enter, or not.

The goal: Write five words. Write more if you’re able. You may be surprised at the doors that writing today and every day opens.

Loving this journey. I’m learning that the more I write, the more I write. I hope you’re discovering the same.
