Quiet Pages, Day Eleven: Lost, Not Lost

Day Eleven

I remember summer days when my dad would take me to work. I’d ride along as he ran errands for the hotel he managed.

Almost every time, we’d end up going down an unintended road. My dad would laugh and say, “We’re not lost. My radar is just a little off.” He’d then adjust an invisible antenna on top of his head and declare, “We’re back on track again!”

Those wrong turns and misdirections led to many adventures, a new diner for lunch, a scenic country-lane view, and lots of shared stories and laughter. I’d love the chance to get lost with my dad again.

The prompt: Write about a time when you were lost, or maybe like my dad, a time when you were lost, but not really. What discoveries did you make? How did you get found?

The nudge: You may write about a time you made an unexpected discovery while you were lost. Or write a series of directions to help someone not get lost. You can also write about a time you thought you were lost, but instead, you found something beautiful. There are many directions this prompt can take you.

The goal: Stay on track. Don’t get lost. Share your best five words or more on your daily writing journey.
