Day One: Welcome to Quiet Pages
Start Here
There’s no shortage of noise in the world. This is something different.
Quiet Pages is a simple, daily journaling practice. Each day, I’ll share a short prompt. You take it from there.
You don’t need to share what you write.
You don’t need to be a “writer.”
You don’t need to do it perfectly.
You just need a few minutes—and a place to begin.
How It Works
Each day, you’ll find:
A short reflection or opening thought
A single prompt
A gentle nudge, if you need help getting started
That’s it.
You can write for 5 minutes or 25.
You can skip a day and come back the next.
You can follow every prompt or none of them.
It all counts.
A Shared Practice
This is a quiet kind of community.
We may never meet.
We may never read each other’s words.
But we’ll know — somewhere, someone else sat down and wrote today, too.
Something is steadying about that.
Why This Exists
I started this for a few reasons:
To build a daily writing practice
To slow down and notice more
To find a bit of clarity—and maybe a bit of grace
If it helps you do the same, even a little, then it’s doing its job.
What You’ll Need
A notebook, or a notes app
A few minutes
A willingness to begin
That’s enough.
One Small Invitation
You’re welcome to keep this entirely to yourself.
But if you’d like, you can:
Leave a single word in the comments
Share that you showed up today
Invite someone else to join
Or simply write—and carry on.
Let’s Begin
Start with today’s prompt.
I’ll be here tomorrow with the next one.
Welcome. Get started. Keep writing.
Day One
I’m great at beginnings. I have dozens (hundreds?) of half-filled notebooks containing pages of never-finished ideas. How about you?
One of the goals of this project is to start and stick with a consistent writing practice.
Today’s prompt: Think of a piece of writing, a painting, a garden, or any project that you started, but didn’t finish. What kept you from finishing? What might bring you back and help you complete the project? Or have you already moved on?
The nudge: If you’re stuck, you may want to start a list of your unfinished projects or list the reasons why you stopped a project.
The goal: It’s simple. Write for five minutes or 25 minutes. And if you write longer, that’s a bonus!
Remember: You’re writing for yourself. We may never meet. We may never read each other’s words.
But we’ll know—we showed up, together to write.
Good luck with today’s prompt. I’ll see you tomorrow for Quiet Pages, Day Two.
